AHMED AL OMRAN is a Saudi journalist and former correspondent for the Financial Times. He is a former Knight-Bagehot Fellow at Columbia Journalism School.

Born and raised in Hofuf, eastern Saudi Arabia, he graduated with a Master’s degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, New York. He has worked for the National Public Radio in Washington DC, before returning to his home country to become the Saudi correspondent for The Wall Street Journal between 2013 and 2017.
Earlier, his blog Saudi Jeans was one of the most well-known and long standing blogs in the Middle East. His work has also appeared in other major publications such as the New York Times, the Guardian and Foreign Policy.
